The development of the train station area allows for a reinterpretation of the center of Dietikon. The bus stops are divided into two islands, eliminating through traffic in front of the station. The train station square is consolidated and marks the beginning of a new urban axis from Zürcherstrasse directly to the station building. A spatially effective, generous tree canopy defines this new urban space and becomes a regional attraction.
The two bus islands, surrounded by the bus turning curves, are lushly planted to create attractive spaces for both transfer and retreat. Constructed from timber and Corten steel, they are warm, sustainable, and circularly materialised.
An archipelago of different atmospheres and spaces emerges. A place with many connections, encounters, and qualities of stay; sometimes bustling, sometimes quiet, and then densely urban again. Inviting to travelers and meanderers, workers and visitors, night owls and daydreamers.
