Hosoya Schaefer Architects have completed construction of a Japanese Shop, located in the old town of Zürich on Falkenstrasse. The shop’s design is based on some of the concepts explored during the symposium “Learning from Tokyo,” which was initiated by Hosoya Schaefer Architects in 2012. The shop exemplifies the intelligent use of space common in Japan. The spatial proposal is simple, yet provides maximum display and storage space in the shop. It provides flexibility with a contemporary interpretation of Japanese aesthetics. The detail of the oak shelving has been developed in collaboration with the custom furniture manufacturer, Girsberger.
