Lecture by Hiromi Hosoya
Omotenashi – Rituals and Spaces in Japan
at the ArchitekturSalon in Hamburg on 4 November, 7 pm
Hiromi Hosoya examines in her lecture titled “Space In-Between”, the cultural and architectural interrelations and explores how rituals manifest spatially and to what extend space influences behaviour. The concept of „Omotenashi“refers to a rooted Japanese notion of hospitality, in which guests are made to feel secure and comfortable through care and subtle gestures. In the context of continuous arrival and departure at the project Herisau Station Square, the same approach can be considered.
